Finn’s registration plate includes the number 314, which is a reference to Michael Caine’s birthday (March 14th), Caine who lends his voice to the spy car.
The Radiator Springs Drive-In Theatre is showing "The Incredimobiles", the "car-ified" version of The Incredibles.
When you first view Tokyo, one high-rise building has an illuminated billboard that portrays Lotso as a car.
Cars that are in the Cars Toon Tokyo Mater can be seen on the streets of Tokyo and inside the drivers’ conference room.
During the fight in the streets of Tokyo, one car lands between two chopsticks. This is reminiscent of the scene in Monsters, Inc. with the restaurant "Harruhausen's".
This scene on the Pont des Arts in Paris depicts John Lasseter and his wife Nancy, who go there to kiss each time they visit the capital.
Passing through Paris you can see the restaurant "Gastow’s" in a well-known area. This is of course where Gusteau’s restaurant in Ratatouille is located.

The banner in London features the name "Lassetyre", which is a reference to the director of the film John Lasseter.
John Lasseter has a London street named after him: Lasseter Way.
During the bar scene in London you can see a poster on the wall with three “car-ified” characters. This is a nod in the direction of the protagonists of Pixar’s upcoming release: Brave.
Fillmore’s license plate in 51237. In accordance with English date formats this can be read as May 12th, 1937. This is the birthday of a famous American comedian, George Carlin, who was known among other things for his speeches on many taboo subjects. Fillmore’s license plate pays tribute to the artist who died in 2008 and who had lent his voice to the van.
The viewer looks down onto Pixar Animation Studios during the end credits.
The ticket to the left has “Air Luxo” written on it, which is a reference to the short film Luxo Jr..

- Jeff Gorvette is named after Jeff Gordon, NASCAR driver and 4-time Winston Cup Champion.
