Slinky is Woody’s right-hand man and assistant. He is given the task of gathering all the bedroom toys up for a staff meeting. Slinky backs Woody up to reassure the other toys that none of them will be replaced on Andy’s birthday.
Slinky tries to rescue Buzz by lowering a “monkey chain” into the garden, though this attempt fails.
When he sees Woody toss RC out onto the road during their journey in the removal van, he rushes to stop him from harming them. He is sorry for what he did when he finds out what prompted his friend to do so. He tries to help Woody and Buzz get back into the van but is unsuccessful in his attempt.
His story : Toy Story 2.
Slinky is the one who finds Woody’s missing hat. He also lets everyone know that Buster is about to burst into the room.
He is surprised and worried to see Woody get shelved, the final step before ending up in a yard sale. He is surprised and then relieved to see the sheriff go off on a rescue mission to get Wheezy back. He is outraged to see the cowboy get kidnapped.
Slinky is on the rescue team. He loses hope when he sees the long journey they have left. Buzz gives him a pep talk. He is then worried at the thought of having to cross the road that leads to “Al’s Toy Barn” and wonders how they will manage.
In the toy store, he sits in the back of the car Hamm has found to speed up the search for Woody.
He uses the air duct along with the others to infiltrate the building. He gets hoisted up into the lift shaft by the new Buzz and worries when the latter decides to let go of the cable to use his anti-gravity servos. He enters the room and ties up Bullseye and Jessie. He is surprised to see a second Buzz come along but is relieved to see this one is his true friend. He is disappointed to see Woody is not going back with them. When the latter changes his mind, he becomes cheerful again. He goes back into the lift and thanks to his stretchy coil, opens the suitcase Woody is held in and tries to get him out, though this attempt fails.
Once outside, he scrambles into the Pizza Planet truck and goes to the airport. He is in charge of controlling the pedals.
He goes back to Andy’s, happy to have rescued his friend.
His story : Toy Story 3.
After a play scene with Andy, Slinky is just like his other friends, stuck inside a toy box waiting for someone to come and play with him. Woody’s plan falls through and he realises it is hopeless. Following a misunderstanding, he ends up being put out for the garbage truck. He manages to escape and follows Jessie’s idea, namely going to Sunnyside Daycare.
Despite Woody’s advice – Woody who tries to convince him it is a very bad idea to stay in the daycare facility – he is happy to be played with by children again. The children are, however, far too young and do not know how handle him properly. He is manhandled and wishes to be put with the older children. He helps Buzz get out of the room to go and talk to Lotso.
While the space ranger is away, thanks to the missing eye Mrs. Potato Head had lost in Andy’s bedroom, Slinky finds out the young man is looking for them. All the toys are then sorry they did not listen to Woody.
When Buzz comes back, Slinky is surprised to see he is barely recognizable and soon understands he has gone back to being a space ranger on a mission. He is taken prisoner. When he sees his friend Woody again, he is happy to see there is a possible solution.
At the end of the escape, he is unfortunately headed to the landfill. He is the first to be sucked up by the magnetic ceiling because of his wire, enabling him to tell the toys they need to grab hold of a metal object so as not to get shredded. He is saved thanks to the aliens and goes back to Andy’s. The latter gives his toy away to Bonnie for a new life.
