Dash is the second child and elder son of Bob and Helen Parr. He has the ability of running at super high speed, be it on land or even on water. He enjoys using his power to play pranks at school.
Dash is constantly giving his teacher a hard time. Yet this time, a hidden camera has recorded his actions. Caught red-handed, he thus ends up being called to the principal’s office with his mother. Thanks to his super speed, the tape offers meager evidence since you cannot distinctly tell he is the one who put a thumbtack on Bernie Kropp’s stool. Pleased to have got away with it, Dash however, is not spared a lecture from his mother in the car. His father is actually quite impressed with the speed his son must have been doing. He is delighted to see Lucius whom he traditionally squirts water at so he can freeze it.
Dash discovers the family has superhero suits at the same time as his sister, when Helen is packing to go and rescue Mr. Incredible who has been captured by Syndrome. Both siblings want to go and help their mother on her mission, and do so by sneaking on board the jet their mother has borrowed from Snug, a pilot friend she helped out in the Golden Age of superheroes.
When the jet blows up after Syndrome has launched missiles at it and that the family all land in the ocean, Dash is the one who enables them to quickly reach the island by swimming so fast he acts as a motor that propels Helen who has turned into a lifeboat.
The following morning, Dash and Violet are chased by Syndrome’s island guards in their Velocipods. He uses his super speed to shake off his pursuers and discovers he can run on water. He does, however, get cornered by two of the Velocipods, but saves his own life by stopping on the lagoon surface and sinking, thus causing his enemies to collide into each other.
He arrives just in time to save his sister Violet from the third Velocipod. And she manages to enclose them in a spherical force field to protect them from gunfire. Dash moves the sphere like a hamster ball by racing along its inside surface. After running into (or “over” as the case may be) their parents, both siblings go and help fight Syndrome’s Omnidroid v.X10.
With the help of his family now reunited and working as a superhero team for the first time, Dash helps destroy the Omnidroid by bringing his mother the remote that controls the robot and that Mr. Incredible managed to retrieve from Syndrome.
He is very over-excited when looking back at what happened to them on their way home in the car.
At the end of the film, Dash is finally allowed to take part in a track meet. He pays heed to his family who urge him to restrain himself and finish “a close second”. Delighted at being able to demonstrate his ability and be “normal”, he dons his mask to battle the Underminer when the latter interrupts his victory celebration.[:]
